This year marks 25 years of production of the Toyota Prius in the USA.

The 25 year anniversary of the Toyota Prius production in the United States has arrived. The Prius is widely known for being the trailblazer in the world of hybrid vehicles. This was the first wave in the movement towards electrification, fast forward to present day, and the Toyota Prius is still dominating the hybrid market. While the Prius has undergone changes over the years, its evolution has only improved the beloved sedan. Toyota’s commitment to environmental consciousness has stayed front and center while expanding their electrification efforts across their model line-up. As years pass, Toyota has made strides towards advancements in their hybrid technology, while enhancing the performance and efficiency of those models.

The Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid introduces the Nightshade Edition, coming for the 2026 model year.

The announcement of the new Prius Plug-in Hybrid Nightshade Edition comes in conjunction with the 25 year milestone. The Nightshade Edition Prius Plug-in Hybrid will be available in three color options including: Karashi, Wind Chill Pearl, and Midnight Black Metallic. The already refreshed Prius gets a boost of sophistication with the Nightshade Edition. This grade will expand off of the existing XSE grade, adding in black accents to enhance the already sleek design. Black accents can be found on the door sills, door handles, bumper trim, and badging throughout. This grade will also be equipped with 19-inch black alloy wheels to add to the blacked out features. The base MSRP for the 2026 Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid Nightshade Edition starts at $37,795.
