The All-New Redesigned 2026 RAV4

The RAV4 is coming back completely redesigned and exclusively electrified for 2026

The Toyota RAV4 has been a fan favorite for years, and it’s making its 6th generation debut for 2026 with exciting updates to the beloved model. The now 100% electrified SUV will be available in the choice of Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) or Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) powertrains. The RAV4 will be available in three different designs including Core, Sport, and Rugged styles across seven model grades. Among those seven grades, the Woodland is getting an upgraded look and the first-ever GR Sport will be available. The 2026 RAV4 will be joining Toyota’s growing list of exclusively hybrid models including the Toyota Sienna and Toyota Camry. Along with the launch of the 2026 RAV4, Toyota is also debuting Toyota’s Arene software development platform. This enables Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 and a new generation of the Toyota Audio Multimedia System. Lets break down some of the key updates of the all-new 2026 RAV4 and new technology from Toyota.

The 2026 RAV4 Core

The core design offers a sleek look to the all-new RAV4 with a paint-matched grille and Toyota’s hammerhead front end (similar to the Grand Highlander). In addition to the front-end, the wide over fenders with black cladding and an ascending belt line with chiseled body panels and to the sleek but strong design elements. Available wheel sizes include 17-inch, 18-inch, or 20-inch, dependent on the RAV4 grade. Core models include the LE, XLE and Limited grades.

The 2026 RAV4 Rugged

The rugged design is exclusive to the Woodland Edition grade of the RAV4. The outdoor-inspired model also has the signature hammerhead front end with a unique look with a split grille and integrated Rigid Industries LED lighting. This model stand a half inch taller than its counterparts to account for the standard All-Terrain tires. It also is equipped with standard raised roof rails and cross bars with an additional rear activity mount. The Rugged Woodland Edition of the RAV4 will have standard AWD and is available in the choice of a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) or Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV).

The 2026 RAV4 Sport

The RAV4 sport designed the GR Sport grade with input from the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing engineering division, inspired from motorsports and the enjoyment of driving. This RAV4 prioritizes handling with a GR-tuned suspension and power steering and enhanced body rigidity. The GR Sport grade will be available exclusively as a Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle. The XSE and SE grades are the other two grades that will be offered with the sport design. These two grades will be available with the option of Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) or Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) powertrains. Dependent on the grade, the option will also be available to chose FWD or AWD.

Updates to the hybrid powertrains

Along with the RAV4 model, Toyota’s hybrid systems have also undergone updates. The Hybrid Electric Vehicle system has increased output when compared to the prior generation, climbing to an impressive 236 net horsepower, previously clocking in at 219. Another first for the RAV4 hybrid is the availability of a front wheel drive model. The front wheel drive hybrid model will produce a combined net horsepower of 226, up from 203 hp on the front wheel drive gas model.

Along with the Hybrid Electric Vehicle system, the Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle system is also improving its performance. Now clocking in with an impressive 320 combined system net horsepower, that is up 18 hp from the previous generation. The availability of the Plug-in Hybrid models for the RAV4 has also expanded from the previous two, to now four grade options. The Plug-in Hybrid RAV4 will be available in the SE, XSE, Woodland, and GR Sport grades.
