Across 11 different facilities, more than 34 million cars have been produced in the United States

Toyota’s manufacturing facilities are at the core of their purpose as an auto maker. These plants are where design, engineering, and research and development activities are carried out. There are 11 total manufacturing plants across the United States located in North Carolina, two in Alabama, Indian, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Tennessee, Texas, West Virginia, and California.

Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina

As the newest facility in the US, battery production is set to begin in 2025. Located in Liberty, North Carolina, this plant will stretch across 7 million square feet. This facility will be responsible for 14 battery production lines, four dedicated to hybrid batteries and ten dedicated to electric and plug-in hybrid batteries. In 2024, over 1,00o jobs were filled with production team members with the goal of reach 5,000 employees. We look forward to seeing the positive impacts this will bring to the surrounding community and domestic production of Toyota vehicle parts.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama

Toyota Manufacturing located in Huntsville, Alabama sits on 1.3 million square feet. This manufacturing facility broke ground in 2001 with production beginning in 2003. With over 2,000 team members, this facility builds more than 3,000 engines daily making up 1/3 of Toyota’s engine production in the US. Producing the four-cylinder, V6, and twin-turbo engine, this covers a large array of Toyota’s model lineup including: Corolla, Corolla Cross, Highlander, Sienna, RAV4, Tundra, Tacoma, and Sequoia. Looking back at the 2024 calendar year, some highlights include their clean energy strides and local community support. Thanks to a partnership with Huntsville Utilities and Toyota Tsusho, more than 70 percent of the energy used was produced by solar energy. They also gifted over $6 million in grants to the schools of Huntsville as a part of their Toyota’s Driving Possibilities initiative. This opens doors and promotes education in future careers in science, technology, and engineering.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indiana

Located in in Princeton, Indiana, this manufacturing facility has been in production since 1998. Since then, this facility has produced more than 6 million vehicles by the 7,000+ team members. The plant is 4.5 million square feet and completes all major vehicle production tasks performed by employees and robots. Since inception, this facility has invested over $6 million to innovate the manufacturing process with the use of technology. This has allowed them to rely on robots for easily programmable tasks such as welding and painting car parts. The robots still require the employees work in succession with the robots, programming them for these elevated tasks. This facility is responsible for the production of the Grand Highlander, Highlander, Highlander Hybrid, Sienna, and the Lexus TX.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky

Located in Georgetown, Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky is the largest Toyota manufacturing plant in the world. Production at this facility began in 1988, Camry was the first model to be produced. Each year this location is capable of producing 550,000 vehicles and more than 600,000 engines. Employing nearly 10,000 employees, this massive facility sits on 9 million square feet. Manufactured models from this plant include: Camry, RAV4 Hybrid, Lexus ES, and Lexus 300h. While vehicles are produced here, four-cylinder and V6 engines are also produced. In addition to the exponential production occurring, several announcements were made in 2024 laying the groundwork for future initiatives. It was announced that investments were made to build a new and advanced paint facility coming in 2027. Another announcement was made in regard to the assembly of a brand new model, a 3-row battery electric SUV set to hit the market in 2026.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi

This facility is located in Blue Springs, Mississippi sitting on 2 million square feet with a team of 2,400 members. The manufacturing production began in 2011, with the sole task of the Toyota Corolla’s production. Since the start of production, this facility has been responsible for producing roughly 100,000 vehicles per year. In 2018, strides were made to upgrade the facility and enhance the efficiency and practices of their production. The team members are masters in skills such as stamping, welding, painting, assembling, and inspection new Corolla vehicles. Like the Indiana facility, robot technology has been adopted for tasks such as laser welding.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing Missouri

The main purpose of this facility located in Troy, Missouri, is the production of cylinder heads. Using recycled aluminum, these cylinder heads are stated to be the “lungs of an engine”. With 1,000 team members, they are capable of producing more than 2 million cylinder heads each year.
